The shortest of these safaris allows you to travel 70 km through the glittering golden sands of the Thar Desert to the ancient city of Osian, steeped in significant cultural history for both Hindus and Jains. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, you can take the incredible journey from the blue city of Jodhpur to the golden city of Jaisalmer, which takes you around 250 km through the fascinating desert.

Despite the name 'camel safari', tour operators go the extra mile to ensure that their guests have the best experience. Depending on how much time and budget you allocate to this activity, it usually includes meals, stay (for tours with overnight accommodation), talks with the locals, folk music and folk dancing, and the main attraction, the ride on the famous desert boat. The arduous crossing of the desert, the reality of the arid region and the splendour of the golden dunes and vast stretches of land give travellers the opportunity to experience the authentic life of a desert dweller, and it is definitely worth the experience.
