Alwar city is known for its rich culture and heritage

 Alwar is the first major town reached on the way from Delhi to Rajasthan. Located 150 km south of Delhi and 150 km north of Jaipur, it is a unique place. Alwar is a centre of tourism with forts like Bhangarh Fort, lakes, wildlife sanctuaries like Sariska Tiger Reserve and historic havelis.


As well as being a popular tourist destination, Alwar is proud of its reputation for having starred in a number of Bollywood films. The town is also famous for the Mega Alwar Trade Fair, held every year at Dussehra Ground, and for handmade papier-mâché (literally 'chewed paper').

Alwar is also famous for Alwar ka Mawa, a sweet concoction that is a treat for tourists visiting Rajasthan. The town of Alwar is also known as the Tiger Gate of Rajasthan. It is known for the Sariska Tiger Reserve, Bala-Quila, Bhangarh Fort, Pandu pol and other temples. The heavenly kalakand and other tasty dishes make the city a worthwhile destination for foodies. The city is nestled between the Aravali hills.

The city is known for its rich culture and heritage. It has great historical significance, although it is not very popular with tourists. The majestic forts and palaces, the colourful markets adorn the city. It is one of the oldest kingdoms in Rajasthan and one of the first Rajput states to enter into a British alliance. Alwar is famous for its milk cake, also known as 'Alwar ka mawa'. Alwar is a good weekend getaway from Delhi as it is a peaceful town with minimal pollution.
