Sawai Madhopur, the gateway to Ranthambore, is a town in Rajasthan that owes much of its popularity to the nearby Ranthambore National Park. The city is the headquarters of the district of the same name and has immense historical significance. It was the seat of several dynasties, from the Chauhans to the Mughals. Today, however, it is best known as the starting point for the Ranthambore National Park.

The tourist destination in Rajasthan was named after Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh ji I, who gave the city its present plan in 1765 AD. Later, during British rule, Maharaja Sawai Man Singh ordered the construction of a railway line between Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur, making the place easily accessible. Sawai Madhopur is also known for its guavas, which grow around the town.

The guavas of Madhopur are outstanding in Rajasthan. Ranthambore Fort was the royal hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur.
