Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Jodhpur

Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Jodhpur

Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park was created in 2006 from a large, rocky wasteland adjacent to Mehrangarh Fort. The park was created to restore the natural ecology of this neglected land and is now one of the city's major tourist attractions. The rocky gorges are densely populated with the indigenous flora of the Thar Desert, there are over 200 species of plants in this eco-park.

The region was established in 2006 as Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, but it is only since 2011 that the public has been able to visit and explore it. It is one of the few places where one can experience the real terrain and vegetation of Rajasthan in its natural environment. The attraction is one of the most famous places for nature lovers and geologists. Visitors can see the rock formations, crystal formations, natural canals, a variety of other rocks, plant and animal species typical of this region.

The park was also partly established for the architectural restoration of the historical monuments in the region. Ecological restoration included the removal of the expansive growth of an alien plant called Baavlia and the restoration of local rock-loving desert vegetation. The park is divided into different areas that visitors can explore to learn all about Desert Rock Park in Jodhpur.

Although the park is open all year round, the best time for tourists to visit this attraction is between November and February, the winter season in Jodhpur
