Sam Sand Dunes in Jaisalmer is an unusual natural destination in Rajasthan, in the middle of the Thar Desert. Amidst the historic forts and colourful markets, the Sam Sand Dunes are among the best and most authentic in the country, some of which are 30-60 metres high.

Located about 40-42 kilometres from the golden city of Jaisalmer, the dunes stretch across tranquil and hilly stretches of golden sand that stretch for about 2 kilometres along the boundaries of the Jaisalmer Desert National Park. 

Travellers often come here to witness the dramatic sunrises and sunsets. You can also get a taste of Rajasthani culture and tradition at dances and musicals performed around the campfire in the evenings. If you have some time, camp with the locals in the desert! It is traditional to light a campfire with the other tourists and enjoy the evening festivities at the campsites.
