Dilwara Jain Temple, Mount Abu
Dilwara Jain Temple
The Dilwara Jain Temples are among the most beautiful Jain temples known worldwide for their amazing outlines and brilliant marble carvings.
It stands out among the other sights in Mount Abu and looks like a simple temple from the outside, but every cloud has a silver cover. The inside of the temple is captivating with the extraordinary work of human craftsmanship that completes it. These temples were built between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries AD and feature inconspicuous components of marble stone carvings that are exceptional and unsurpassed.
They were completed at a time when there were no vehicles or sledges in Mount Abu at an altitude of 1200+ metres. Vast quantities of marble stones were transported on elephant backs from the Arasoori Hills in Ambaji to this remote, uneven area of Mount Abu. The Dilwara temples are also a standard excursion destination for Jainists.
