Alappuzha, Kerala
Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a beautiful city in Kerala, located on the southwest coast of India. It is known for its immense natural beauty and as one of the busiest commercial centers, trading with the Persian Gulf regions and even Europe.
Alappuzha is also known as the 'Venice of the East' because of its numerous waterways, lagoons, lakes, and canals. It is a pure water paradise in God's own country, Kerala. The city of Alappuzha was founded by the Diwan of Travancore, Raja Keshawadasan. One can sail in the houseboats and enjoy the tranquillity that spreads through the many coconut trees that line the canals and small hamlets.
