Pathanamthitta, Kerala

 Pathanamthitta is a sprawling city located in the lap of the Western Ghats. The town came into existence when ten original Nair families settled near the Achankovil waterway. Soon, a few families settled here as the rich soil was ideal for rice cultivation. Pathanamthitta is known for its flourishing Hindu culture, especially the forts of the Nair station.
