Kottarakkara, Kerala
Kottarakkara, also translated as Kottarakara, is a large city and region in the Kollam district in the Indian state of Kerala. The city is located near the port of Kollam, which has a rich history dating back to the early Middle Ages. The city is also known for being an important centre for business, engineering and trade. Kottarakkara is 27 kilometres ( 17 miles) east of Kollam city centre.
Kottarakkara, a compound word made up of the words Kottaram, meaning "castle", and kara, meaning "to arrive", actually means "place where there are royal residences". The area where there were some royal residences was thus called "Kottarakkara" Kottarakara has one of the KSRTC nodes associated with Kerala, which includes various administrations in all parts of Kerala and inter-state administrations. The nearby courses are served by private and government transport operators.
