The only way to reach Wayanad is by road - whether you approach from Kannur or Calicut in the west and southwest, from Coorg, Mysore, or Gundlupet in the north, northeast, and east, or from Gudulur and Ooty in the southeast.The most sparsely populated district of Kerala covers an area of 2132 square kilometers and is situated at an altitude ranging from 700 m to 2100 m. There are no railway stations, sea ports or airports. 

It is set in sublime green splendor, a land of lush forests and fields and plantations of rubber, coffee, tea, cardamom, and pepper. Soothingly cool temperatures prevail here most of the year, offering respite to those escaping the surrounding sultry lowlands. There is no better way to get to know the many fascinating facets of Wayanad than to travel through the intricate road network and penetrate ever deeper into the folds of green mystery.
